The Research Center Europe (FZE) is the organizational union of research networks and intitiatives, which deal with the key topic Europe, focusing on aspects of longue durée and challenges of today. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Lukas Clemens, researchers of the humanities and social sciences of more than 10 disciplines join in projects and research networks of different sizes.   The research projects and networks are autonomous and have their own research funds available.

The Research Centre is directed by the directorate, which is appointed by the Senate of Trier University. The following academics are a member of the current directorate of the FZE:

Prof. Dr. Lukas Clemens is managing director of the FZE, professor of medieval history at the University of Trier.  

Since its foundation in 2009, the FZE offers support services to its research networks and research groups. Its research management and service features include:
